1. Who we are

Commercial Insurance Advocate is a trade name of MPW Consulting, LLC, an Ohio limited liability company and independent insurance agency. We are licensed by the Ohio Department of Insurance as a business entity (Agency License #1764490). Our principal, Michael P. Wolterman, holds Ohio Producer License #659359 (NPN 8186498), Resident Major Lines — Accident & Health, Casualty, Life, and Property.

We are an insurance agency, not an insurance company. Policies are issued by the insurance carriers with which your coverage is placed. We currently offer insurance products only in Ohio.

2. Privacy notice

This notice describes how we collect, use, share, and protect nonpublic personal information about the businesses and people we work with, consistent with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Ohio insurance privacy rules.

Information we collect

How we use it

To respond to your request, obtain and compare quotes, place and service your coverage, communicate with you about your account, comply with law, prevent fraud, and improve our service.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing. Text-messaging opt-in data and consent will never be shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

How we protect it

We restrict access to your information to people who need it to serve you, and we use physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards — including encrypted (HTTPS) transmission on this site — to protect it. We keep information as long as needed to serve you and to meet insurance record-keeping requirements.

Your choices

You may ask us what information we hold about you, request corrections, opt out of marketing communications at any time, or ask us to delete information we are not required to retain. Contact us using the details in Section 8. If you are a former customer, this notice continues to apply to your information.

3. Text messaging (SMS) terms

Program name: Commercial Insurance Advocate quote & service alerts.

Program description: When you provide your mobile number and consent on our quote form, by text, or verbally, Commercial Insurance Advocate (MPW Consulting LLC) may send you text messages about your quote request, appointment or callback scheduling, documents we need, and servicing of your policies. Messages are conversational and account-related; we do not send bulk promotional texts.

4. Insurance disclosures

Independent agency & network

We are an independent agency and are not owned by or captive to any insurance company. To give small businesses access to a broad range of carriers, we place business through an independent insurance agency network. Depending on the coverage you request, your quote may be prepared by us or by the network's licensed commercial quoting team, and a licensed representative of that team or of the carrier may contact you directly to present options and, at your direction, bind coverage. In some programs the network or carrier, rather than our agency, is designated the "agent of record" on the policy; in every case, Michael P. Wolterman remains your point of contact for questions and service.

Quotes and binding

Quotes are estimates based on the information provided and are subject to the carrier's underwriting review and acceptance. A quote is not a guarantee of coverage or price and is not an offer of insurance. Coverage is governed solely by the policy issued by the carrier, including its terms, conditions, limits, and exclusions. Coverage cannot be bound, changed, or cancelled through this website, by email, by text message, or by voicemail. Requests for changes are effective only when confirmed by a licensed agent or the carrier.

Claims

As your agent we help you understand your coverage, report claims, and communicate with the carrier. Claims are investigated, evaluated, and paid by the insurance carrier. We are not a public adjuster and do not represent policyholders in adjusting or settling claims for a fee.

Licensing and territory

Insurance products are offered only in states where the agency and its producers are properly licensed — currently Ohio. Nothing on this site is an offer to sell insurance in any state where we are not licensed. License status can be verified through the Ohio Department of Insurance license lookup or the NAIC/NIPR producer database.

Not advice

Content on this website is general information, not legal, tax, or coverage advice for your specific situation. Please read your policy and ask us about anything you're unsure of.

5. How we're paid

We are compensated by the insurance carriers (directly or through our agency network) with a commission that is a percentage of the premium on policies we place. Commission rates vary by carrier and product. We may also be eligible for contingent or supplemental compensation from carriers or the network based on the overall volume, growth, or profitability of business placed with them. In some cases an agency or broker fee may be charged for services; any such fee will be disclosed to you and agreed in writing before it is charged. You are welcome to ask us at any time how we are compensated on your account.

6. Surplus lines notice

Some hard-to-place risks cannot be insured by carriers licensed ("admitted") in Ohio. In those cases coverage may be obtained, through a licensed surplus lines broker in our network, from an eligible surplus lines (excess & surplus) insurer. Surplus lines insurers are not licensed by the Ohio Department of Insurance and are not covered by the Ohio Insurance Guaranty Association, which protects policyholders if an admitted insurer becomes insolvent. Surplus lines policies are also subject to Ohio surplus lines premium tax and may have different rates, forms, and cancellation provisions. Any surplus lines placement will be identified to you as such, and the required Ohio surplus lines notice will appear on the policy documents, before coverage is bound.
